Toshiba 32AV502R 32-Inch 720p LCD HDTV
From the Manufacturer
From the Manufacturer Manufacturer’s Review (March 12, 2009) Strikingly gorgeous in high-gloss piano black, the 32-inch Toshiba 32AV502R 720p HDTV combines quality, style, and value. It features Toshiba’s DynaLight dynamic backlight control for deeper black levels, a fast 8ms response time CineSpeed LCD panel, and two HDMI digital inputs for simple high quality connection to cable/satellite boxes, DVD players and more. It includes a PC Input for use as a PC monitor or gaming TV, and–unlike other smaller TVs–it also features a Gaming Mode to shorten the signal to screen time for faster game controller response. And this HDTV, like all Toshiba 2009 TV models, meets Energy Star 3.0 certifications for reducing energy consumption by up to 25 percent compared with standard TVs. So I was in the market for a 32 inch set for the bedroom and decided to go with 720P, since 1080P just isn’t necessary for this size. I looked at the Panny, LG, and the Sammy 460 series and this Toshiba’s had the deepest blacks out of the three. Blacks are more important to me being a Kuro owner. I’ve had this tv up and running now for 24 hours straight for over a week and no issues thus far. Very sharp picture with HD running through it. SD doesn’t look as sharp at all, but that is the case with any LCD. Good blacks(for an lcd). The screen is a matte, so you don’t get the reflections. Off viewing axis is better than most LCD’S, but being a plasma owner, it sucks in comparison. The color accuracy leaves something to be desired. Luckily the picture menu allows you to correct this. The sound is decent, although you will get vibration with certain dialog with the bass turned all the way up. Here are the settings I came up with for the best possible picture and fixing the color issue, which is a green push. This was done with a ISF calibration disc in a dark room. If you wish for a brighter picture for sports viewing or because you have the tv in a brighter setting, then bump up the backlight. Note: I will keep updating these settings until I feel they are perfect, so keep checking in from time to time.

I gave it a four star only because of the speaker vibration during certain dialog and the major color adjustment it needed, but for the money, I could have easily given it a five star.
This is a great TV, excellent picture and functionality; however, the first TV was “dead on arrival” – nothing worked except the power light. Obviously I was disappointed, but J&R Music (seller) took it right back and sent a replacement which functions as it should. I was pleased with the service and now have another great Toshiba TV.
This is a great tv.Sound and picture quality are very satisfactory. You have different sound and picture settings for different purposes, gaming, movie, sports etc.Since the frame is also black,it seems larger than 32″ at first sight
. There is only one problem which is rare. When you try to switch the input (from HDMI to cable etc.),the screen goes black. In that case you should shut down the TV and then turn it on.That’s why I gave 4 stars.Otherwise, it is great. We have been using it for 7 months and we are very happy.
